Fomer President of the Portuguese Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery since March 2010 up to October 2016, he is now President of the General Assembly. Dr. Rui Ribeiro has performed about 6000 surgeries, 4500 by laparoscopy.Faculty at “Centro de Cirurgia Minima Invasion Jesus Usón” courses, CCMIJU – Caceres, Spain. Developing and proceeding with “Clinical immersion courses” for European surgeons in the hospital.He has worked as lecturer and proctor in the “Masterclass Courses in Metabolic Surgery” in the European Training Center (ETC – Elancourt, Paris). Dr. Rui Ribeiro completed his course In Medicine in Lisbon, Portugal, 1986.

Regularly since 2003 Dr. Rui Ribeiro participates in different National & International conferences, live operation demonstrations and events on laparoscopic & Bariatric treatment and published several articles in National and International journals.Author of twelve surgical scientific papers in medical literature (Portuguese and International). "Lecturer" in different Portuguese and International events ;Presentation, as author, of about fifty papers in the general surgery area, several of them in International events, including European and World Congresses about Bariatric Surgery.He has participated in Several presentations on TV, radio and newspapers in Portugal about Obesity and diabetes surgery and SILS.

Dr. Ahmed Bakillah received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Rene Descartes Paris University in 1994 after which he became a post-doctoral fellow at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia-USA. From 2000 to 2008 he worked as Principal Investigator at two large Pharmaceutical Companies (Novo Nordisk & GSK). His primary research interests focus on cardiovascular metabolic diseases and lipid and lipoprotein metabolism. Actually, Dr. Bakillah holds a position of Research Director/Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine, State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY-USA. He also served as the Managing Editor of Nutrition and Metabolism Journal, BioMed Central Ltd, London-United Kingdom for almost 10 years and guest editor and AdHoc-reviewer for various peer-review journals. He has published numerous highly cited journal publications, conference articles and book chapters in the cardiovascular diseases and lipids field, and has received several awards and grants from various funding agencies.

Ismail Kucukkurt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Afyon Kocatepe. Dr Kucukkurt completed his Ph.D. at Afyon Kocatepe University. His research interests lie in the area of saponins and some plants extract its antioxidant effects on tissue and organism. Also, he investigated obesity, effects of elements, especially boron, on tissue morphology, molecular and biochemical mechanism. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of biological science. He has taught biochemistry on undergraduate topics in veterinary medicine.

He has a particular interest in behavioral science and medical psychology; the prevention, control and treatment of non-communicable disease, such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes; and infectious diseases, including tropical diseases such as leptospirosis, dengue, and malaria. Dr Mangum has worked in global health both in practice and academia for over fifteen years, primarily in rural and remote developing settings, including formerly serving as the Associate Dean of Medicine at Xavier University School of Medicine, and currently holds the following appointments: Professor of Medicine, University of Hawai'i John A. Dr. P. G. Raman graduated in 1962 and got MD (Medicine) in 1965, both from M.G.M. Medical College, Indore, MP. He has been practicing Diabetes from the time of 1970s. Between 1972-75, for three years he worked as fellow at Joslin Clinic Boston USA and had intensive training in Diabetes and Endocrinology.
He joined in 1967 as Lecturer in Medicine, Medical College, Rewa. He worked at Indore and held different positions. In 2002 he retired from the post of Head of the Deptt. and Professor of Medicine from M. G. M. Medical College, Indore. M.P. He was a teacher both for undergraduate and post-graduate for over 30 years. He has more than 100 publications in National and International journals. He is a fellow of the All India Institute of Diabetes as well as of Indian College of Physicians. He is exclusively devoted to Diabetes clinical practice and diabetic patient education. He has written several medical books for undergraduate and post-graduate students.
He was awarded B.C. Roy oration in 2007 and he was elected as Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh in 2005. He is also the recipient of Master-Teacher Award by Indian College of Physicians, a wing of Association of Physicians in India, in the year 2014.
